Energy and currency markets as of 8 May 2026 reflected a correction in crude oil, steady movement in USD INR, and continued softness in natural gas prices. Crude oil closed at 101.29, declining -6.36% weekly from 108.17, though still posting 6.94% monthly and 50.33% quarterly gains. On a yearly basis, crude remains 61.19% higher than 62.84 recorded on 8 May 2025, trading 71.91% above its yearly low of 58.92 (16 December 2025), while staying -11.49% below the yearly high of 114.44 reached on 4 May 2026. USD INR settled at 94.44, rising marginally by 0.48% weekly, but remaining down -2.14% monthly and -4.25% quarterly. The pair is -10.42% lower year-on-year, trading -11.26% below its yearly high of 84.88 (12 May 2025), while standing just 0.79% above its yearly low of 95.19 recorded on 5 May 2026. Natural Gas slipped to 2.75, declining -1.08% weekly and -0.72% monthly, with deeper losses of -14.33% quarterly and -24.03% yearly. Prices remain 6.18% above the yearly low of 2.59 (14 April 2026), but still sharply -47.92% below the yearly high of 5.28 seen on 5 December 2025.
