Market indicators as of 22 May 2026 reflected mixed trends across crude oil, currency, and natural gas markets, with crude witnessing correction after recent highs while USD INR and gas remained volatile. Crude oil closed at 103.54, declining -5.24% weekly from 109.26, though still posting gains of 4.20% monthly, 46.08% quarterly, and 60.68% yearly. Prices remained 75.73% above the yearly low of 58.92 recorded on 16 December 2025, while trading -9.52% below the yearly high of 114.44 touched on 4 May 2026. The recent correction in crude comes after strong geopolitical and supply-side rallies seen earlier in the quarter, although prices continue to stay elevated compared to last year. USD INR settled at 95.70, showing a marginal 0.28% weekly improvement, but still remaining down -2.06% monthly, -5.48% quarterly, and -11.29% yearly against 85.99 recorded on 22 May 2025. The currency pair remained -12.48% below the yearly high of 85.08 on 26 May 2025, while staying close to the yearly low of 96.83 recorded on 20 May 2026, with a variation of 1.17%. Rising crude prices and continued foreign fund outflows continued to pressure the rupee. Meanwhile, Natural Gas closed at 2.90, declining -2.03% weekly, although it gained 6.23% monthly. The commodity remained under pressure with -6.75% quarterly and -11.04% yearly declines. Natural gas prices traded 11.97% above the yearly low of 2.59 recorded on 14 April 2026, but still remained sharply -45.08% below the yearly high of 5.28 seen on 5 December 2025.
