Supply Risks Build as Crude Oil Surges

Supply Risks Build as Crude Oil Surges
Polymer September 2, 2026

RIL Supply Outlook

Jamnagar Plant
Due to the government mandate to increase LPG production at the Jamnagar refinery, polymer production may be affected. RIL is expected to maintain minimum PP availability of around 6.5% of monthly requirements.

Hazira Plant
The Hazira plant may remain shut between 3–15 September 2026, which could further impact polymer availability and supply.

Global Market Pressure

  • Crude Oil: $95.48 â–˛ 4.27%
  • USD/INR: ₹94.93 â–Ľ 0.02%

U.S.–Iran Conflict Escalates

The U.S. launched new strikes on Iranian targets around the Strait of Hormuz after attacks involving commercial shipping and U.S. personnel. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. interests in the region.

The escalation is important for polymer buyers because Hormuz is a critical route for global energy and petrochemical trade. Further disruption could push crude and freight costs higher.

PolyMart Perspective

  • Domestic availability may tighten if the expected plant constraints continue, while higher crude and freight risks could provide further support to polymer prices.
  • Buyers should maintain balanced inventory, review near-term production requirements and closely monitor producer allocations, plant updates, crude oil and shipping conditions.
