Crude Gains Amid US–Iran Uncertainty

Crude oil moved higher amid continued uncertainty around US–Iran developments, keeping energy and feedstock costs in focus for the polymer market.

Global Market

  • Brent Crude: $107.00/bbl ▲ 1.80%
  • USD/INR: ₹96.36 ▲ 0.19%

PP vs Crude — 6-Month Trend

The six-month movement shows a broad relationship between crude oil and PP prices, but not an immediate one-to-one correlation.

From March to July, crude moved lower and PP prices also declined. From July onward, both moved higher, although crude recovered faster while PP responded more gradually.

This highlights an important market dynamic: crude is a key cost signal for polymers, but PP prices do not necessarily move at the same speed or by the same magnitude.

PolyMart Perspective

  • Crude is an important signal for polymer costs — but not the only one.
  • Polymer prices may react differently based on demand, supply, inventory and producer revisions.
  • Buyers to closely track crude, feedstock costs and open-market prices.
