Brent Slides Nearly $12 in a Week; Domestic LDPE Prices Rise

23 September 2026 | PolyMart Market Update

Brent crude futures were quoted at $98.16/bbl, down 1.10% in the supplied market snapshot. That is roughly $12 below the near $110/bbl level seen last week. USD/INR was quoted at ₹95.67, up 0.07%.

A domestic polymer producer has announced a grade specific LDPE price revision effective 23 September 2026:

  • LDPE GP: Up ₹1,500/MT (₹1.50/kg)
  • LDPE extrusion coating: Up ₹17,500/MT (₹17.50/kg)
  • Other LDPE grades: Prices rolled over, with no revision

These are producer price changes; the prices buyers see in the open market may differ by grade, location and supplier. The much larger increase for extrusion coating also shows why the LDPE revision should not be treated as a uniform increase across all grades.

Softer crude may ease feedstock and energy cost pressure over time and could limit further upward pressure on polymer prices if it remains lower. Immediate price reductions are not guaranteed, however: freight, USD/INR, feedstock availability and supply conditions also influence prices.

PolyMart view: Keep buying need based and monitor crude alongside domestic producer revisions.
